Fewer joints, welded seams and a coved base keep moisture and soil out of the floor. Here is what hygienic detailing covers and where its limits are.
Hygienic flooring limits the joints and crevices where moisture and soil collect. Typical details are heat-welded seams, flash-coved bases that carry the floor up the wall, non-porous surfaces and, on some products, a manufacturer-applied antimicrobial treatment.
What to confirm before specifying
Hygienic detailing supports a facility's cleaning and infection-control program; it does not replace that program or prevent infection on its own. Antimicrobial claims are the manufacturer's and apply to the product surface.
