30 mil wood- and stone-look luxury vinyl plank and tile for heavy commercial traffic
Corridors, cafeterias and sales floors wear floors out. Compare by wear layer (LVT), through-color construction (solid vinyl, homogeneous sheet) or PEI class (porcelain).
High-traffic flooring is chosen for entrances, corridors, cafeterias, sales floors and lobbies where foot traffic, carts and cleaning are constant. For luxury vinyl tile the main indicator is the thickness of the clear wear layer, measured in mils; homogeneous solid vinyl tile and homogeneous sheet carry color all the way through their full thickness. For porcelain tile, the PEI abrasion class sets the traffic rating.
Wear layer and construction are only part of the picture. Maintenance, walk-off at entrances and correct installation also affect how a floor wears, and warranty terms vary by product and use.
